Located in the Tobacco Museum of Maia, the Welcome Center covers the Eastern Zone of the Municipality of Ribeira Grande. It is an Interpretative Center that serves as a welcoming space for visitors, offering them an overall view of the territory and of the six parishes of the municipality: Porto Formoso, Maia, São Brás, Lomba da Maia, Fenais D’Ajuda, and Lomba de São Pedro.
Through an interactive model, visitors can identify various points of interest, select, and plan routes within these parishes. These are complemented by videos that showcase the natural and human landscapes, as well as the many diverse activities that shape and define the territory.
In addition to the photographs on display, I was the author of the videos and responsible for the audiovisual content of the Welcome Center.
As with the Tobacco Museum of Maia, the Coordination, Artistic Design, and Museographic Execution of this space were carried out by António Viana, with Lighting Design by Engineer Victor Vajão.
The Welcome Center was developed by the Municipality of Ribeira Grande and the Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Divino Espírito Santo of Maia. This project was the result of a participatory budget initiative that mobilized over 1,000 residents of the Municipality of Ribeira Grande.
