Jorge Murteira (1966) has a degree in Social Anthropology. He is dedicated to photography, documentary filmmaking, and the production of audiovisual content for exhibitions.

He began his career in 1987 as an assistant director and underwater lighting technician on a documentary film shot in Cape Verde, where he lived and studied. It was also in this country that he made his first documentary in 2002. Since then, he has produced, filmed and directed several documentaries of his own, receiving numerous awards for some of his work.

Imagery has been his passion since an early age. He started taking photographs at the age of 13 and has not stopped since. He has photographed in several countries and continents, namely Tibet, Macau, Hong Kong, China, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Iran, Kenya, Tanzania, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Morocco, Brazil, Portugal and European countries.

He has been involved in audiovisual exhibitions for three decades, producing and directing several films and installations in Portugal and abroad.
