This landscape bears similarities to the Alentejo plain. But the distant mountain range is unmistakable. In the middle of August, we witness here, in just two brief minutes that condense two full hours, the formation of clouds that is so characteristic of Sintra.

As the clouds sweep across the fields and the shadows stretch across the scene, several kestrels search for their prey. From time to time, eagles can also be seen, seemingly trying their luck. In a setting where time seems to stand still, they rarely remain in the same place for more than a few minutes.

Autumn approaches, and September’s light will soon lead me back to revisit this place.
